Name That Tune

I chose Broken Social Scene for this little meme – they are my (second) favorite band in case you didn’t know by the title of my blog that I’ve had for-eva!

Broken-Social-You-Forget

Pick an artist, and using ONLY SONG TITLES from only that artist, cleverly (preferably) answer these questions. This is harder than it seems!

ADDITIONAL RULE: You cannot use the same artist I did, or duplicate song titles even if they were performed by another artist.

1. Are you male or female: Anthems for a Seventeen Year-Old Girl
2. Describe yourself: Shampoo Suicide

3. How do you feel about yourself: Feel Good Lost
4. Describe your ex boyfriend/girlfriend: Lover’s Spit
5. Describe your current boy/girl situation: Love and Mathematics
6. Describe your current location: Hotel
7. Describe where you want to be: KC Accidental
8. Your best friend is: Baroque Social
9. Your favorite color is: Fire Eye’d Boy
10. You know that: Our Faces Split the Coast in Half
11. What’s the weather like: Looks Just Like The Sun
12. If your life was a television show what would it be called: Almost Crimes
13. What is life to you: Cause = Time
14. What is the best advice you have to give: Finish Your Collapse and Stay for Breakfast
15. If you could change your name what would it be: 7/4

my mother would be proud-
I met a man in a bar and lost my name,
became Lot’s wife without ever looking
back.  That’s my problem:
a pretty neck failing with sand.

Three New Bruises

I have three new bruises on the inside of my right leg near my knee. I haven’t taken the Lamictal in three days and have been taking benadryl as instructed.

I’m

Freaking

Out.

My pdoc said he doesn’t know what it is and to see my my pcp.

really, doc?

So now, not only do I think I’m dying, I’m totally fucking enraged because I’ve stopped taking one of my meds abruptly. I’ve taken some benzos so i can rest and not cause anyone bodily harm.

I’m basically posting this for anyone who may do a search on “lamictal & bruising” and need some help.

I take lamictal – I’m actually in the process of titrating up my dose, however – the day before yesterday my husband pointed out three small bruises on the inside of my upper left arm. I dismissed it as us playing with the dog on the bed (which can get crazy sometimes). Until yesterday – when I looked down and saw a huge bruise on the inside of my left thigh around the knee area. I looked down my left leg about four more inches and saw another bruise. Then I looked at my right leg – two more bruises running down my calf.

what the fuck!

That’s seven bruises in two days.

I knew in my head it had to be the Lamictal (Lamotrigine) so I started doing a search on “lamictal and bruising”. I was able to find very few things – one was on the Yahoo message boards in which every single responder advised the person to “not stop taking your meds” to which I say – YOU MUST BE FUCKING RETARDED.

Far down on the information sheet for Lamotrigine are the listed rare side effects and one of them is “bruising”. Here’s my non-doctoral advice that came from my own psychiatrist who I am lucky enough to call 24 hours a day, seven days a week, if I have to.

STOP TAKING THE LAMICTAL IMMEDIATELY.
TAKE 25mg of an antihistamine
four times a day.
CALL me back in four days.

People who are on psychiatric medications crack me up sometimes with their unrelenting fear of “stopping a medication”. I understand the *warnings* for stopping a medication abruptly. I do. HOWEVER, if one is suffering a rare or serious side effect from a psychiatric medication – try to contact your doctor and if you can’t contact your doctor or a pharmacist, DO NOT CONTINUE to take that medication!!!! You are NOT going to DIE if you stop taking it! In fact, every single information sheet will tell you: “if you miss a dose, skip that dose and take your  medication at your next scheduled dosing time”.

Be smart.

There.
